About

Your wedding day isn't just about WHO you love, but also WHAT you love.

You love adventure and you want your wedding day to be an unforgettable experience that reflects you as a couple. If you are happiest climbing mountains or shredding waist-deep powder, why wouldn't you want that to be a part of your wedding day?

How did you get into the wedding industry?

My name is Cat, and I created Wild Connections Photography in 2015 when I realised that I didn't fit the stereotype of a traditional wedding photographer. I'm an outdoorsy girl who is happiest when I'm outdoors and exploring, and if you are reading this, you probably are too. I'm an adventure wedding and elopement specialist. Think of me as your local guide, your adventure buddy and your photographer - I'm here to help you create the most epic adventure of your lives yet!

Tell us about one of your best experiences at work?

One of my favourite elopements was a 3-day hiking adventure through the Dolomites in Italy. We experienced incredible views together and on the last day, they eloped. The weather on the day of their elopement was absolutely horrendous with heavy rain and storms. We had to throw plan A out the window and come up with a plan B, which ended up being an unforgettable adventure, finishing with my gorgeous couple saying their vows to one another with sunning mountains behind them as the clouds started to clear.

What equipment do you use?

I'm a Fujifilm photographer. I don't really believe what camera you use is important, but I love Fuji because their cameras are lightweight and small, which makes it much less intimidating to be photographed than when you have someone pointing a huge DSLR in your face ;-)

"As any adventurer knows, beneath the layers of adrenaline, risk-taking and satisfaction of the ego lies something far deeper. Connection with these wild places is what we truly seek. To fully comprehend our place in this world, we need these vase wildernesses and we need to experience them, connect with them. For in doing so we are doing so much more - we are connecting with ourselves." Ewan Blyth

Any advice for Brides and Grooms?

Your wedding day should be about you and the things that you love. If that's a big, traditional wedding, then awesome. But if you would rather elope somewhere epic with just the two of you, don't worry about what anyone else will think. It's your wedding day and you can choose to spend it however you want.

Any personal advice for fellow Photographers & Videographers?

Don't get distracted by things that don't really matter. Purchasing a new hipster logo or obsessing over how many Instagram followers you have aren't what will bring you clients who connect with you and love your work. Spend time working out exactly who your dream client is, and focus every you do on communicating with them.
